This policy explains what we do with personal information when you use our website, ask us for a quote, apply for a job with us, or visit our yard. We have tried to keep it in plain English rather than legal wording.

Who we are

Silver Tree Services is a trading name of STS Industries, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09117312. We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we are the ones responsible for looking after it.

Silver Tree Nurseries, Silver Tree Training and Silver Tree are part of the same business. Where this policy says “we”, it covers all of them.

What we collect and why

When you ask us for a quote or get in touch

Our forms and our inbox collect your name, phone number, email address, the address where the work would happen, which service you are asking about, and whatever you tell us in your message. You can also send photos of the trees or areas you want us to look at. Photos are optional and only used to understand the job.

We use this to reply to you, arrange a site visit, and give you a written quote. Our lawful basis is that this is a step towards a possible contract with you, and our legitimate interest in running the business and answering the people who contact us.

When you become a customer

We keep a record of the work we carried out, the address, what was agreed, and what it cost. Our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you, plus our legal obligation to keep proper business and tax records.

When you apply for a job

Our recruitment form collects your name, contact details, the role you are interested in, your message, and your CV if you upload one. We use it to assess your application and get in touch about it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in recruiting staff.

When you visit our yard

We operate CCTV at our premises in Shurdington for crime prevention and site safety. Cameras may record you if you come to the yard, for example to collect firewood. We do not use automatic number plate recognition and we do not use the footage to monitor individuals. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our property, our staff and our visitors.

When you browse the website

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and this only runs if you agree to statistics cookies in the banner when you arrive. Our Cookie Policy lists what is set and lets you change your choice at any time. Some parts of the site load content from Google, such as fonts and the map on our contact page, which means your IP address is shared with Google when those load.

Who else handles your information

We do not sell your information and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing. A small number of suppliers handle it on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions.

Between the Silver Tree businesses

If your job needs trees, plants or turf, we order them from Silver Tree Nurseries. That means passing on the site address, plus a contact name and number where a delivery has to be arranged or a driver needs to reach someone when they arrive. We share only what is needed to get the right stock to the right place, and we do not pass your details between the businesses for marketing.

Deliveries and waste

Where materials are delivered to your property, or green waste is taken away, the site address and a contact number go to whoever is handling that part of the job. We keep waste transfer records for as long as the law requires us to.

Tree surveys, reports and applications to the council

If we prepare a survey or report for you, or apply on your behalf for permission to work on a protected tree or a tree in a conservation area, the property address and the applicant’s details go to the local council as part of that application. Applications of this kind normally become part of a public planning record.

Our suppliers

Google	Website analytics, fonts and the contact page map.

We may also share information where we are legally required to, for example with HMRC, insurers, or if we are asked to by a court.

Where your information is held

Your information is held in the UK and the European Economic Area. Form submissions are stored in Germany and then sent to our email, where they are kept. Our website provider is a German company and processes information within the European Economic Area. If that ever changes, we will put the safeguards UK data protection law requires in place first.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

give you a copy of the information we hold about you
correct anything that is wrong
delete it, where we do not need to keep it
stop or limit how we use it
send it to you or someone else in a portable format

Where we rely on your consent, such as analytics cookies, you can withdraw it whenever you like without giving a reason. To ask about any of this, email enquiries@silvertreeservices.co.uk. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first at enquiries@silvertreeservices.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know what we are doing about it.
