Garden Maintenance

Someone reliable who turns up, does the job properly, and leaves the garden tidy. Mowing, borders, weeding, pruning and seasonal tidies across Gloucestershire, on a round that suits your garden rather than our diary.

Regular Rounds & One-Off Tidies
Most people looking for a gardener are not looking for a project. They want the grass cut, the borders under control, the hedge kept off the path, and someone who comes back when they said they would. Silver Tree Services has looked after Gloucestershire gardens for over twenty years, and garden maintenance is the part of the business where that shows up every fortnight rather than once a decade. Regular rounds, one-off rescues, and the option to hand the bigger jobs to the tree and landscaping teams without ringing anyone else.

What we do

Where a “hedge” has quietly become a row of trees, our tree surgery teams take over, and once a dead hedge comes out, stump grinding clears the line for replanting, which our landscaping team can supply and plant from our own nursery.

Choosing how often

There is no standard answer, and anyone who gives you one before seeing the garden is guessing. What matters is how fast your garden grows, how tidy you want it, and what you are happy doing yourself. We will tell you what we think it needs and you can take it or leave it.
The four we set up most often
Rounds are not contracts. If you want to pause over winter, change the frequency, or stop altogether, tell us and we will sort it. Nobody is tied into anything.

Gardens that have got away

Plenty of the gardens we take on have not been touched for a year or three. A house that has been let, a garden that got away during illness, or a probate property that needs to be presentable before it goes on the market. None of that is unusual and none of it needs apologising for.
We quote the rescue separately from the upkeep, because they are different jobs. The first visit clears, cuts back, and gets the shape of the garden visible again. After that a normal round keeps it there, at a fraction of the cost of doing the rescue again in two years. Where a garden has gone past gardening and into clearance, the clearance team handles it and the same crew hands back over once it is workable.

Where the gardening stops and something else starts

Honest boundaries save everyone a wasted visit. A gardener with a mower and a pair of secateurs should not be up a ladder with a chainsaw, and we will not pretend otherwise:
The point is that all four sit under the same roof. You get one number, one invoice, and no gaps where each contractor says the job belongs to the other one.

Areas we cover

Garden maintenance across Gloucestershire, including Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, and the Cotswold towns, as well as cities such as Bristol, Bath, and Swindon. If you’re not sure whether we reach you, just ask.

What it costs

Garden maintenance is priced per visit, and the two things that move the number are the size of the garden and how often we come. Frequent visits cost less each because there is less growth to deal with; a garden visited twice a year always costs more per visit than the same garden visited fortnightly.
We quote free and in writing after a site visit, and the price holds for the season. There is no charge for green waste removal and no minimum contract.

Good Questions

Frequently asked.

How much does garden maintenance cost in Gloucestershire?
It is priced per visit, and the two things that move it are the size of the garden and how often we come. A fortnightly round costs less per visit than a seasonal one because there is less growth to deal with each time, so the cheapest way to keep a garden is rarely the least frequent option. Silver Tree Services quotes every Gloucestershire garden free and in writing after a site visit, with no charge for taking the green waste away and no minimum contract.
No. Plenty of customers are on a fortnightly or monthly round, but one-off tidies are just as welcome, and a round can be paused, changed or stopped whenever you want. Silver Tree Services does not use fixed-term garden maintenance contracts for private customers across Gloucestershire, so if the arrangement stops suiting you, tell us and we will change it.
Not usually. Most gardens only need side gate access, and crews work through without needing anyone in. If the only way in is through the house, or a gate is locked, we will agree access with you when the round is set up. Crews are uniformed, identifiable and insured, which matters if you are out or if a neighbour asks who is in the garden.
It leaves with us at no extra charge. Green waste goes back to the yard at Shurdington and is composted or chipped rather than tipped, which is part of the closed loop audited under our ISO 14001 certification. You do not need a green bin, and nothing is left bagged up at the side of the house.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. An overgrown garden is quoted as a one-off rescue first, separately from any ongoing round, because the first visit is a different job from the ones after it. Once it is back under control a normal round keeps it there for far less than letting it go again. Where a garden has gone past gardening into scrub and self-seeded trees, our clearance and tree teams pick it up and hand back once it is workable.
Hedges yes, as part of a round, and tall or overgrown hedges go to our dedicated hedge trimming crews. Tree work above hand height goes to the tree surgery team, who hold NPTC certification and work to BS3998. It is the same company either way, so you are not chasing three contractors for one garden, but the right qualified people do the work rather than a gardener with a ladder.
